Patient-Centered Care, Quality of Life & Ethics

This track focuses on placing patients at the center of kidney care by addressing quality of life, ethical decision-making, and compassionate clinical practice. Sessions will explore shared decision-making models that respect patient values, preferences, and cultural backgrounds throughout the course of kidney disease. Mental health support, including the management of anxiety, depression, and treatment-related stress, will be a key focus.The track will highlight palliative and supportive nephrology care, symptom management, and end-of-life planning for patients with advanced kidney disease. Ethical challenges such as treatment choices, dialysis withdrawal, informed consent, and equitable access to care will be discussed through real-world case studies. Communication skills and multidisciplinary approaches will be emphasized to enhance patient trust and engagement.By integrating ethics, empathy, and holistic care, this track aims to improve patient satisfaction, dignity, and overall well-being while supporting healthcare professionals in delivering compassionate, ethically sound nephrology care.
